Pranayama - Breath Work
Breathing is the most readily accessible resource we have for creating and sustaining our vital energy. Our breath has been with us since birth, but as we grew we began to unconsciously alter and interfere with the free expression of the breath. In yoga one of the most important requirements is to be able to breathe consciously. To breath consciously means to be aware.
Different breathing techniques can be used according to what we want to achieve: prepare the body for the Asana practice, focus, heal, calm the mind, relax the body. Learning to breath consciously help us to operate in a relaxed alertness mode which affects the way we feel and think in all the different aspects of life.
A relaxing session intended to be healing and nurturing for the body and the mind. Restorative yoga is like an “active relaxation” and it does not require much physical movement. By supporting the body with props, we alternate stimulate and relax it to move towards balance. All poses create a specific physiological response which is beneficial after powerful body work and can also reduce the effect of stress related disease.
This session will help to fully enjoy your surfing week, restore physical and mental energy, gently allowing the muscle to stretch and recover from intense training.
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
Meditation is exploring. It’s not a fixed destination. When we meditate we venture into the workings of our minds: our sensations, our emotions and thoughts.
A meditation session is a meeting between you and yourself. It's all about training the mind to stay in the present moment. Soothing the mind, and entering a mode of freedom and self-awareness which induces relaxation, joy, patience, emotional balance, and love. Meditation increases the level of focus and attention, bringing serenity to our lives.
As a surfer, you constantly need to build your concentration, focus, and attention so that you're in tune with the elements water, air, earth, and most of all, yourself.
